Out of all the things I have written in my life I find this to be the hardest to start, because this is the first time I’m committed to sharing my writing in an open format. Anyone could be reading this as long as the website is active and that’s a terrifying thought. So let’s treat the previous statements more as thoughts that will permeate my tone throughout the entirety of this first post.

Hello my name is Gerdy Johnston for those who don’t like reading things from a faceless being from some random part of the internet. I have been tossing around this idea in a practical sense for the past couple of months, this first post has taken me several weeks to get done. Yet little by little it has festered and grown to the blob of text and unfocus it is now. What would you include in your first blog post? You may say you are more enlightened and would never waste the time stitching together words for other gasbags to consume, not even physical writing, just digital fluff. A bunch of ones and zeros coming together to achieve a momentary understanding for a select few to ever even see. Well that’s why you haven’t made anything and I have decided to put my personal thoughts on the internet for strangers to read. We’re both losers! So shut that part of your brain off or ignore it if you can and follow my literative narrative that I swear will have a point.

In this blog's lifetime I hope to write about video games, movies, books, the art of nature and how I see the world operates. This is a very wide net that most official “How to Start Your Own Blogs” will tell you is not a good idea because people love to focus on specific topics and you need to focus on something if you want to be relevant. Obviously, I’m not taking this advice and just going to do my own thing because this is my sense of creativity. This is for you as much as it is for me, but I know me so I’m going to always put me first. That’s not always true but I find that open honesty is the best practice and generalization is good ways to make simple points. To add more chaos to this overflowing bowl of ideas, just because my tone may come off as lighter or “chiller” for those born after 2000, doesn’t mean that I’m not open to criticism. Critical thinking is a lost art it feels so please take this as seriously as you want and I might even respond with equal valor. The length of each post will vary but I want to make this first post a little more succinct and a standard for the average length of post’s going forward. My plan is to do a minimum of one post every week but if I can get into the groove then maybe three or more every week. If I start posting daily I am officially blog pilled and please remind me to take breaks and not burn myself out on my hobbies.

Well that’s all about it for my first post, if you're looking for info on me personally like preferences, pronouns or pre-established bias I’m afraid you’ll have to stick around and keep reading. (That’s what we in the Writer’s Guild call a hook.)
