Weapons with no operators are non-violent
Weapons with no operators are non-violent

Another week has passed and ICE has claimed another citizen of the Twin Cities. I want to say that I am shocked or appalled by this chain of events but I’m not. I’m no fool to the true intentions of ICE and they stopped being about immigration enforcement a long time ago. Alex Pretti’s loss was terrible and I shed tears watching him get executed by masked agents. Horror flooded my brain when one of the agents pistol whipped Alex several times, and my heart stopped for a moment with his as his legs flopped on the ground with no life. He wasn’t obstructing

officers by recording them, and pushing a US citizen out of harm's way, from the officers that should only be handling “immigrants”, is also not obstruction. Due process is a right guaranteed to every person by the constitution and was meant to not allow any authority to be judge, jury and executioner. It does not matter to ICE or the President that they are openly violating our rights. ICE’s actions are galvanized by the executive branch and Trump has only cared about laws enough to exploit them. This does not mean that our laws or values are nothing though, it just means that some force will be required to have them prevail.

The founding fathers of America envisioned a land for the free and powerful. A large reason the revolutionary war was started was because George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were rich powerful land prospectors that wanted to sell land west of the Appalachian mountains and the crown refused to let them do business because of the violent response from the native population. Our history has always been bloody and violent and it is very privileged to believe that reform or revolution can only come from non-violent movements. When your enemy is willing to shoot you down in the streets then they have already chosen the violent path. A bully will never learn a lesson unless you bloody their nose. I’m not advocating for citizens to take up arms against ICE but we all have the 2nd Amendment and it is our duty as Americans to check authorities that are too corrupt to exist.

Minnesota is an open carry state and many locals have taken this and practiced their constitutional rights. Some ICE agents may be willing to die for their cause but many aren’t, and they are paralyzed with fear when they see citizens practice this right. I hate to say it but this is what a deterrent does. The world has been a button push away from destruction for half a century now and we are still here. The nukes of the past are very much still here and have only deteriorated over the past years. We need to show our enemy that we are just as capable of inflicting pain on them as they have done to us. I am not calling for mob justice or riots in the streets. We already have the Signal chats and plenty of means of rapid response and if we want to be more successful we need more people practicing their 2nd Amendment rights. This way the next time ICE goes too far the response of the citizens can be greater and decisive. There are more citizens than ICE agents and we have the numbers and networks necessary to minimize the casualties of citizens. If the government fails to uphold the law then it falls to the hands of the citizens to do it. If you see ICE tackling one protester and you are in a group large enough charge forward and pull them out of it. Groups have powers and ICE is more likely to retreat than open fire on a crowd because that would shatter any hopes of twisting the narrative in their favor.

A large issue that came up when writing the constitution was how to handle the “masses” or the everyday people of America. The founding fathers were afraid of the power they held and knew that a government bent on controlling its citizens would be doomed to be torn down. Our government hasn’t always been for all the people but any progress we have made towards being that have been about faced, and we are regressing as a people. An immigrant nation that does nothing but attack its immigrants will be doomed for destruction. I don’t want to see my country fall apart but I’m not willing to allow this disgusting behavior to continue. So if America as we know it needs to be uprooted in order to build something better than so be it. I will be here to tear it down and rebuild it as needed because I am a real American. One who believes in the collective of the people and that everyone is born equal no matter where they came from. I urge my fellow Minnesotans to stay strong and keep up our actions going forward. ICE is not having an easy time out there and they are not all powerful, they’re losing more support everyday and many people across the country are opening their eyes. The desperation of the administration is obvious, and hopefully their days in office are limited. For now keep focusing on our rapid response and our 2nd Amendment rights. We have powers in crowds and we need to stick close together if we don’t want more lives lost like Renee Good or Alex Pretti. Thank you so much for your actions and your bravery, I hope to see you out on the streets.
