Returning to the Fold in Minnesota

It has been far too long since I have last posted to this blog. I took the last week of the year off for the holidays and the first week of the year put me in a rut so deep I can no longer see the sun. I want to live a life where I can review arbitrary works of art that have influenced me but that is a privilege I can no longer serve in this modern day America. I’m a proud American in that I’m acutely aware of all the faults of my country and will stand on this sinking ship all the way to the bottom because my allegiances will always lie with my home. I was born and raised in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, for most of you out there that just means Minneapolis but locally Saint Paul and Minneapolis are known as the Twin Cities. Saint Paul is my home but Minneapolis is not very different and just across the river. They are the same to me and I claim the whole metro as my home.
The first week of 2026 opened to an illegal military operation on Venezuela, followed by a massive increase in ICE’s funding allowing Minneapolis to be flooded with agents. As a result of the push back already experienced in December 2025 the resistance only grew and thanks to the now thousands of untrained monkeys with assault rifles in the cities an innocent citizen, Renee Good, was murdered. This has marked massive protests along with further dissonance for the ICE agency and ultimately ruined any sense of peace and safety the cities had. Though there are less stand out protests in Saint Paul rest assured that thousands of citizens in both cities have been protesting and resisting this blatant misuse of power. The entire point of this is nothing more than a show of force from an administration that wants nothing more than fear and anger to rule the hearts of the citizens that have no interest in their bigoted politics. As a response to this unjustified murder the Trump administration as well as ICE have done everything they have to push the narrative that Renee was a “domestic terrorist” that deserved what she got for obstructing justice. This is a heinous and ridiculous lie about a woman who spent her last moments terrified and shot by a man who should’ve never been given a gun.
Seeing the multiple videos that show the ICE agent in no danger or being run over as well as Renee attempting to pull away from agents with guns gets my blood boiling. There is no excuse for this lethal response and it makes me sick to my stomach seeing all the ignorant people out there that think she deserves what she got just because she wasn’t “playing nice”. The fact that the agent, Jonathan Ross, has not been arrested and will not be held accountable for his actions is a failure of our nation as a whole. This march into authoritarianism may have felt swift but its framework has been building since the turn of the millennium perhaps even longer. The water is at a rolling boil and the frog is dead because the state can already execute citizens with impunity. I’m afraid for my community and what the future may hold because the only response has been to send more agents. I encourage all who are reading this to connect with your community and work with your neighbors to work out a system to keep you all safe and protected. Report ICE sightings to ICEOut.org and keep informed on their current positions.
I will not allow this fear to rule my heart and will continue to fight for my community and my Minnesota to remain the peaceful place for people to come together and work towards prosperity together. America has always been a state of immigrants and this unjustified witch hunt of our life blood will result in the greatest reckoning this country has ever seen. The underlying White Supremacist movement that is at the backbone of this administration has gone unchecked for far too long and it is past time to stamp it out for good. We need to act decisively and craftly if we want any hope of a future in which America is no longer the villain and that is what I will fight for as long as I breathe. I hope to return to posting regularly, and my focus may be kept topical for the near future. Media reviews and lighthearted topics will be more frequent once the federal government halts its unlawful occupation of the Twin Cities.
